Robin Williams and his daughter Zelda Williams

Robin Williams was such an avid video gamer that he named his two youngest children after characters in the Legend of Zelda and Final Fight. Now, other players are rallying to have the late star memorialized in games.

Two Change.org petitions are circulating to have the actor, who died Monday, incorporated into upcoming versions of the Legend of Zelda and World of Warcraft games — and one has already been a success.

Chadd Nervig, WoW's technical game designer, was asked on Twitter if he saw the petition, which has about 11,000 signatures and he replied, "Yes. We're taking care of it." Soon after, WoW paid tribute to Williams on their official page, saying that they hoped he had enjoyed his "time in our world" and promised to see him "in-game."

Meanwhile, the petition to have a non-player character named after the Good Will Hunting actor in Zelda is blowing up with more than 82,000 signatures.Nintendo of America won't yet say if it could become a reality.

"Robin Williams was loved at Nintendo," a spokesperson said in a statement to Yahoo. "Our hearts go out to his entire family, and especially to Zelda Williams who we’ve worked with multiple times. We appreciate the outpouring of support from the gaming community, and hear the request of fans to honor him in a future game. We will not be discussing what might be possible for future games during this difficult time, but we will hold our memories of Robin close."

Zelda had an extra special place in Williams's heart because he named his daughter Zelda, 25, after the character Princess Zelda. The father-daughter pair even appeared in promotional videos for the company's Legend of Zelda franchise talking about how his love of the game inspired her name.

"From what I was told, they were playing Zelda when my mom was pregnant with me," Williams's daughter says. "I think both my parents really liked the name and it stuck." (Williams later said on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon that his eldest son, Zak, was the one who suggested Zelda to them.)

Williams, who said in the video that he bought one of Nintendo's first systems and found it addicting, adds, "A lot of people come up to me and say, 'Is she named after F. Scott Fitzgerald's wife?' No, it's Zelda for The Legend of Zelda." He then turned his daughter and said, "You're lucky you're not named Mario or Luigi or Samus."

He beamed at his daughter as he added that the name Zelda "is magical — like she is."

Williams's son Cody, who was born in 1991, also received a video game name. He's named after Cody Travers from the rough and tumble Final Fight, which debuted two years earlier.

The star often spoke out about his love of gaming, mentioning Portal and Call of Duty as faves, in various interviews. He talked about it just last year in a Reddit chat and elaborated more during his chat with Fallon, though noted that he wasn't always on the winning side.

"It's always weird, too, when you play online and you get owned by a 10-year-old," said the funnyman. He then reenacted some of the dialogue with young CoD players, saying, "'You're my b---h!' 'Hey, old man, I own your a--!' 'How old are you?' … 'There's a nasty 10-year-old up in a tower with a sniper rifle.'"

It's nice to know the hobby brought him so much enjoyment — and hopefully soon other players will get to see little bits of "Robin" in their gaming adventures.
